CARB to offer rebates for Zero Emission purchases.

The California Air Resources Board is offering rebates for the purchase of zero emission and plug-in hybrid vehicles.  This could be a way to help make a move to a lower corporate carbon footprint with some help for the purchase.  Click here to read more.

Businesses need to get ready for carbon reducing measures even though it doesn’t look like anything will get through congress this year.  With retailers telling their suppliers to reduce carbon footprints and the SEC voting earlier this yeart that publicly traded companies will be forced to  disclose carbon risk the handwritng looks to be on the wall.  To read the entire article click here,

Another attempt seems to be on the way for a climate related bill in the US Senate. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is calling for a comprehensive bill. Senators for both sides of the aisle seem to be working on this bill in an attempt to get the bill to the floor by spring. The real time-line seems to be to have the bill completed by years end.
It is to early to tell what to expect from the legislation but it looks like we will see a cap and trade type of system as well as a carbon tax and a method of distribution of emission allocations. To read the entire article click here.

America’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, is taking it’s nearly decade long environmental sustainability program beyond it’s own doors to it’s supply chain. The retailer announced on Thursday that by the year 2015 it would help it’s supply chain reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 million metric tons.
